"One Person's Weed...

... is another person's wildflower."That's a Susan Wittig Albert quote. Among some other achievements, Susan Wittig Albert writes fun quirky mystery stories that include many references to herbs and gardening. Isn't it funny how the very same plant can be a "weed" if it's in the garden but a "wildflower" if it's someplace else? There is one particularly neglected area behind my barn.Occasionally I have grown vegetables here. But most years I forget about it.When I forget about this area it becomes a jungle of uninvited growth.Weeds thrive here. But when they don't infringe on my vegetables, when I don't have to pull them, then they are beautiful wildflowers.I guess, as it is with everything, it all depends on my perspective at the moment.
